Hello, I am back!! Feeling extremely hungry and tired but I am back.
This past week in NYC has been exactly what I expected and more. Although I was expecting it to be cold I didn't quite expect there to be warnings about going outside because you may get frostbite, nor did I prepare myself for the aching jaw and fingers... but I pulled through and towards the end I think my body either got used to it or just decided to put up with it.
Each day was filled with sightseeing, comedy shows, the occasional shopping and a lot hot Starbucks when we couldn't handle the cold anymore.
I didn't really know how the trip would run as I was only told that the trip was extremely beneficial for my university course and that each day would consist of making new memories and although I definitely made so many new memories and deeper friendships (it's quite hard not to when you have Alexa asleep on your pillow with no socks on after telling me about her five day blister!!) I do believe that the trip was more of a city break with friends rather than a university experience.
However, I am very glad that I went to NYC as it really opened my eyes and it has pushed me to apply for as many internships and gain as much experience and as many contacts as possible.
Ever since I was a little girl I can remember thinking to myself, I just want to write, I just want to work in a magazine company, and although I don't necessarily want to stick to the set guidelines, 10 years on I still have the same passion.
Anyhow, I would say a week is definitely long enough in NYC as although there is a lot to see - its hard to grasp how tiring walking miles is plus the fact it was -11. After travelling for over 24 hours I was definitely ready to fall off of the coach into Ben's arms that just so happened to have a bouquet of flowers in. I don't think you appreciate your time as much with someone unless you have time away to realise how lucky you are.
Here is my trip in some of the photographs I took along the way:
I would definitely advise going to NYC if you have the chance, even if it's just for you to open your eyes to how big just one city is.
Have you been to NYC before?
Love Ella X
