'We all fear that there is a secret club and everyone is a member of it. We're the only person who doesn't know the rules. But everyone else has the same fear'.
Research shows that our confidence is low in pretty much every area of out lives. Or at least, we think it is. Confidence is relative.
Because we know that nobody can fly or not everyone can perform brain transplants - we reassure ourselves that we do not need to concentrate on these traits and so we do not lack any confidence. However we worry about the areas we presume other people are better or more confident. For example, dressing 'on trend' or public speaking.
We tell ourselves that other people having insecurities are 'cute' yet when it comes to our own countless insecurities we hate them and try and neglect how we feel?
That's how insecure we are. We are charmed by other's vulnerability yet despise our own.
Imagine meeting an outstanding woman, absolutely flawless and seemingly capable of doing anything at all - imagine her leaning over and whispering that she feels so nervous speaking in public? What would you do? Slightly fall in love with her and believe she is adorable?
Whereas if this outstanding woman did not mention any insecurities, we would perhaps admire her but not necessarily feel fond of her.
Thats just human nature.
Reading the article in ELLE magazine about confidence really inspired me - we shouldn't feel any jealousy at all when we meet someone that seems to have it all - because why can't you?
Go out and achieve.
